First published in 2006, SCARS gained momentum in 2007 with its infamous “HATCHET” issue, exposing Adam Green’s indie monster flick to the world. Since then, they’ve grown and morphed, carving out a reputation as a horror mag ahead of the curve, with an eye open for the next big, independent horror film.
In 2008, SCARS became available nationwide (even Puerto Rico), sold in Borders, Barnes & Nobles, and numerous independent retailers throughout New England and California. With their fan base firmly in place, SCARS moved their content to the Net, so you can get SCARS whenever you want ‘em.

SCARS loves the little guy (Kreepy Krawlys can confirm that), but they aren’t indie snobs – They work tirelessly to bring readers the latest studio projects, and present breaking content from partnerships with Universal, AfterDark, Lionsgate, Paramount, and more.
SCARS covers more than horror movies … they promote anything that falls under the umbrella of alternative or dark culture, be it a retail store, artist, website, fashion trend, band, haunted house or cult personality.
